Everything happening around the groves this week (plus the school news nobody wants to hear) |
Hey Redlands, The Super Bowl matchup is set: Seattle vs. New England. Unfortunately, our LA Rams didnât make the cut this year, tough pill to swallow, but the game will still have plenty of drama.
And while the football world locks in its picks, thereâs a lot happening right here close to home.
From Journey USA rocking the Yucaipa Performing Arts Center on Thursday night, to Troop 11âs legendary Super Bowl Pancake Breakfast , a Scout tradition thatâs been feeding our community for over 50 years, plus our Redlands High Mock Trial team claiming their third consecutive county championship, thereâs plenty to be proud of.
But itâs not all wins. Budget challenges facing our school district are real, and they deserve attention.
Whether youâre planning your weekend, tracking local wins, or just staying connected to whatâs happening around the groves, youâre in the right place. Letâs dive in. |

đ Redlands High Mock Trial Team Wins Third Consecutive County ChampionshipPride of the Terriers! Redlands High School's Mock Trial team claimed their third consecutive San Bernardino County Mock Trial championship this past Saturday, January 24th. This remarkable three-peat showcases the exceptional talent, dedication, and legal acumen of our local students. The team's consistent excellence reflects not only on their own hard work but also on the quality of education and mentorship available right here in Redlands. It's victories like these that remind us why Redlands has always been a community that values education and excellence. Congratulations to the students, coaches, and families who made this victory possible. Our community couldn't be prouder! đ Redlands Unified Faces Tough Budget DecisionsThe Redlands Unified School District is navigating challenging times. On Tuesday, January 27th, the school board approved sending 135 layoff notices to teachers and staff amid declining enrollment and budget constraints. Community members packed the meeting to voice concerns about the impact on students and families. The district continues to review its budget and enrollment projections as it works toward sustainable solutions. This is a developing story that affects every family in our community. These are the tough decisions that school boards across California are grappling with, and it hits close to home when it's our teachers, our schools, and our kids. Stay informed and engaged with your local school board meetings. |
